the event

In 2026, the CFI Annual Symposium will be co-located with the 6th International Symposium of Water Disaster Mitigation and Water Environment Regulation (WDWE2026) and the 2026 Asia Tsunami Workshop, creating a unique convergence of global expertise across coastal engineering, water disaster mitigation, tsunami science, and environmental regulation. The co-location aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange, strengthen regional collaboration, and and create synergies across complementary research and policy communities.

The CFI Singapore Symposium 2026 convenes researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to exchange insights on advancing coastal protection and flood resilience in the face of climate change and rising sea levels. The symposium highlights cutting edge research, innovative engineering solutions, and nature-based approaches that support sustainable and resilient coastal environments. It also provides a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange across academia, government, and industry to translate research into practical solutions for Singapore and the region.

The International Symposium of Water Disaster Mitigation and Water Environment Regulation (WDWE) serves as a multidisciplinary platform for global researchers to share insights and discuss the latest scientific advancements in water disaster prevention and ecosystem-based adaptation. This is increasingly critical as climate change brings growing uncertainties and challenges to the resilience of megacities.

The symposium provides an opportunity for scientists and practitioners to present their latest discoveries, innovative strategies, and best practices for enhancing resilience to water disasters, water pollution, and ecosystem degradation, while supporting sustainable development in the world's megacities.

The Asia Tsunami Workshop is a spin-off of the long-running South China Sea Tsunami Workshop (SCSTW) series. Expanding beyond the South China Sea, the workshop brings together researchers from across Asia to share insights and advances in tsunami science and risk reduction.

The workshop welcomes studies on tsunamis generated by earthquakes, landslides, volcanic activity, and atmospheric disturbances. Topics include tsunami generation, propagation, run-up, damage assessment, and disaster mitigation strategies such as hazard assessment, warning systems, coastal protection, evacuation planning, and community preparedness. Oral and poster sessions will foster knowledge exchange among researchers at all career stages.

Getting to the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Campus is quick and convenient via Singapore's well-connected transport system.

By Train

Alight at the Punggol Coast MRT station (NE18) along the North East Line (NEL).
Please use Exit 1 for direct access.
or

Alight at Teck Lee LRT station (PW2), take Exit A and take a 15 mins walk under the sheltered walkways and through Campus Boulevard.

By Bus

The Punggol Coast Bus Interchange, situated adjacent to the SIT Punggol Campus, is served by bus services 34 and 117 / 117M.

Alternatively, services 84W and 84G from the Punggol Bus Interchange also provide direct access to the campus.

By Car

As this is a car-lite district, limited parking lots are available at SIT Punggol Campus. Alternative parking is available at SAFRA Punggol.

For visitors arriving by taxi or private-hire vehicle, please alight at Block E6 / Ho Bee Auditorium.

where to stay

The conference will be held at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), located directly above Punggol Coast MRT Station on the North-East Line (NEL). As SIT is situated in a newer development precinct, there are currently no hotels in the immediate vicinity. However, the direct MRT connection makes the venue easily accessible from most parts of Singapore.

Below are a few hotel options you may wish to consider:

Dorsett Singapore

Approximately 30 minutes by MRT, with a direct line from Outram Park MRT Station to Punggol Coast Station, making it a particularly convenient choice

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport

Approximately 20 minutes by taxi to SIT Punggol

Orchid Country Club

Approximately 20 minutes by taxi to SIT Punggol

More generally, any hotel along the North-East Line, such as those near Bugis, Dhoby Ghaut, or Clarke Quay, would offer a straightforward commute to the venue. Please note that accommodation is not provided by CFI Singapore. Attendees are responsible for arranging and booking their own accommodation.
